Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Early Childhood Educator position is an asset
  • Early Childhood education including:
  • RECE Registered Early Childhood Educator
  • ECE Early Childhood Educator
  • CYW Child Youth Worker
  • CYC Child and Youth Care
  • ECA Early Childhood Assistant
  • EA Educational Assistant
  • 2 Step TB
  • Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C

Responsibilities

  • Using the Childventures curriculum, plan and facilitate engaging activities that promote cognitive, physical, social and emotional development
  • Customize activities based on your observations of the children’s interest and needs
  • Participate in required curriculum training sessions and PD days building your knowledge of pedagogical practices
  • Observe and assess children’s behaviour, progress and development
  • Complete daily observations and maintain children’s records
  • Maintain an open and ongoing dialogue with families about their children’s progression
  • Provide a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment that is inclusive of all children
  • Establish a consistent set of rules and routines that are followed daily
  • Ensure a clear and organized classroom monitoring and addressing any health & safety concerns
  • Build strong relationships with the children and their families
  • Establish open lines of communication with your Centre Director and fellow team members
  • Participate in team meetings fostering a collaborative, respectful and fun work environment
  • Interact with Ministry staff and other regulators around licensing requirements for inspection purposes
  • Participate in the age-appropriate environment ratings scale annually
  • Follows the Centre’s Quality Assurance cycle when using program evaluation tools
