About The Position

The nonpartisan Legislative Affairs Agency provides objective, accurate, and timely services and products to the Alaska Legislature and Alaskans to support and inform policy making, facilitate public access to the legislative process, and preserve the legislative institution. Working in seamless partnership across sections, staff approach their tasks with professionalism, grace, and courtesy in supporting the challenging and vital work of the legislative branch. The Legislative Affairs Agency, Supply Section, is recruiting for a Supply Clerk. The position is a full-time position starting soon. The Supply Clerk is required to be politically neutral. The Supply Clerk position will work 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate and perform light maintenance on copiers, fax machines, audio/visual equipment and office furniture.
  • Ability to lift and safely move items that may weigh up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
  • Ability to act courteously in dealing with legislators, legislative staff and public.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be politically neutral.

Responsibilities

  • Issues and delivers office supplies to legislators and legislative staff.
  • Maintains supply shelves and storage areas.
  • Performs basic maintenance on copiers and other office equipment.
  • Lifts and moves office furniture as requested.
  • Lifts, carries and stacks paper, supplies and materials.
  • Packs, moves and unloads state property as requested.
  • Assists annual property inventory by inspecting property tags on existing equipment and affixing property tags to new equipment.
