Supply Chain Supervisor
About The Position
The Supply Chain Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dayton Supply Chain team, including purchasing, planning, inventory control, and material availability. This role ensures materials are available to support production, helps maintain inventory accuracy, monitors supplier performance, and leads the day-to-day activities of the supply chain team. The Supervisor partners closely with Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, and Corporate Supply Chain to support production schedules, resolve material issues, and drive continuous improvement within the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, materials, or supply chain within manufacturing.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and production planning.
Nice To Haves
- EMS manufacturing experience preferred.
- APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily purchasing, planning, inventory control, and material management activities.
- Ensure material availability to support production schedules and customer commitments.
- Coordinate priorities to resolve material shortages and minimize production disruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels and inventory accuracy.
- Escalate supplier performance issues and partner with Corporate Supply Chain when needed.
- Support ERP/MRP planning accuracy and material visibility.
- Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, and department efficiency.
- Recommend and implement process improvements within the Supply Chain function.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Finance to support production.
- Communicate material risks, shortages, and recovery plans.
- Coordinate activities across departments to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance.
- Work with suppliers to resolve delivery issues.
- Support supplier scorecards and performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Corporate Supply Chain on sourcing and supplier initiatives.
- Supervise the daily activities of the Supply Chain team.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Assign work, establish priorities, and promote accountability.
- Support employee development and foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
