About The Position

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a talented and motivated student for an internship within its Procurement Organization. The intern will gain hands-on experience by working with various members of the Procurement Organization, operations, and management teams to learn about the business and the utility industry. Under the guidance of the Procurement Manager, the intern will be responsible for learning and participating in duties and activities related to Source-to-Pay functions.

Requirements

Currently a Junior attaining Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years education towards one of the following majors: Supply Chain, Finance, Materials Management, Project Management, Business, Logistics, or other related fields
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint capabilities.

Responsibilities

Perform SAP transactions and other duties as required by CNP Procurement personnel.
Assist in the procurement of standard materials and services from suppliers at the lowest cost, with consideration to quality, reliability, and other business requirements.
Execute RFX activities in conjunction with ongoing bid events.
Extract, sort, format, interpret and communicate out various data analyses.
Collaborate with other Summer Intern(s) on a group project that creates a positive impact on the Procurement organization and ultimately CenterPoint Energy.
Develop a working knowledge of associated procurement systems and processes.
