About The Position

The Supply Chain Specialist will collaborate with the General Managers, leadership and inventory across OMS to develop strategies that results in improved inventory performance, better sales margins and reduced risk for the company. This person will interact with and influence the functional activities performed by the supply chain group for Steel and Aluminum products and develop suppliers that provide other direct purchased items like MRO, inventory components and outside services.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of business, supply chain or manufacturing related experience.
  • Experience in using Microsoft office applications.
  • A good understanding of metal processing, operational challenges and financial cause and effect.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Conversational English is required

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in supply chain management, business, industrial distribution, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Continually seeks to drive the overall supply chain spend down in the major categories of raw material and direct purchased components.
  • Develops and manages supplier partnerships at the strategic level for direct purchased components and outside services.
  • Coordinates with each of the plants to support their individual supply chain and inventory performance goals.
  • Create, update and maintain any corporate reporting required as it relates to supply chain.
  • Coordinate all activities associated with any customer directed supply programs.
  • Utilize S&OP and MPS to help understand and drive the material requirements planning process.
  • Work as a business partner with the shared supply chain group to negotiate cost effective purchasing strategies.
  • Assist in the evaluation of suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery and strategic alignment with OMS.
  • Lead efforts to minimize working capital required for direct inventory.
  • Minimize the inventory risk by working with General Managers, Sales Managers and Business Development Managers to assure alignment of inventory with customer agreements or contracts.
  • Stays abreast of market conditions relative to direct materials supply and communicate as needed throughout the organization.
  • Focuses on the core competencies of potential suppliers so that a network of best-in-class supply partners are established and maintained.
  • Participate in or conduct performance review meetings with strategic suppliers.
