Supply Chain Specialist, Air-Cooled Condensers

Fervo Energy•Houston, TX

About The Position

Fervo Energy is hiring a Supply Chain Specialist to own procurement strategy and execution for air-cooled condensers (ACCs), a major equipment package in its geothermal power plants. The role sets category strategy, develops a competitive U.S. supply base, assesses market conditions and supplier capacity, and creates should-cost models. It partners with supply chain, engineering, and construction leadership to evaluate how ACC design and delivery decisions affect cost, schedule, and plant output. The specialist runs ACC procurement packages from market engagement and prequalification through RFQ, bid evaluation, negotiation, award, and purchase order, and manages contracts, supplier progress, deliveries, changes, and claims after award. The role also supports procurement of heat exchangers, pumps, and other equipment as needed. It is an individual contributor position reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, Power. The position is based at Fervo’s Houston headquarters, with occasional travel to OEM shops and Cape Station, and follows a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • Working understanding of how ACC and air-cooled heat exchanger OEMs design, fabricate, price, and schedule their work, including factors that drive lead times.
  • At least 3 years of experience buying, selling, or estimating major mechanical equipment; ACCs, air-cooled heat exchangers, or other heat-transfer equipment are preferred areas.
  • Ability to read datasheets, specifications, and performance curves and explain how design choices affect cost, lead time, and plant output.
  • Understanding of how equipment design and delivery choices play out in field construction.
  • Ability to develop a strategy, defend it to leadership with data, and execute the RFQ.
  • Relevant background may include commercial or proposals work at an ACC or air-cooled heat exchanger OEM, equipment purchasing at an EPC, utility, or independent power producer, or engineering experience that expanded into procurement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on power generation projects, especially air-cooled, geothermal, or ORC plants.
  • Experience buying heat exchangers, pumps, or other rotating equipment.
  • Experience negotiating frame agreements or buying for a multi-project program.
  • Experience with tariffs or domestic content requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build the ACC category strategy, including OEM qualification, competitiveness, reserved shop capacity, and use of frame agreements.
  • Grow a competitive U.S. supply base, including OEMs new to geothermal or ORC service.
  • Monitor market conditions such as OEM backlogs and shop capacity, material pricing, component lead times, supplier consolidation, and competing demand; make actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Build should-cost models for ACC bays.
  • Work with engineering to assess how ACC design choices affect cost, lead time, plant output, and bidder availability.
  • Evaluate stick-built and modular ACC delivery tradeoffs with construction, including site labor, cranes, laydown, shipping limits, and schedule.
  • Align the ACC bay package with the separately procured support steel package on design, schedule, and delivery.
  • Include quality requirements, inspection and test plans, pressure testing, code documentation, and shop inspections in RFQs.
  • Incorporate tariff and domestic content requirements into sourcing decisions.
  • Own ACC packages from market engagement through award, including prequalification, RFQs, technical and commercial bid evaluation, negotiation, and purchase orders.
  • Write RFQs that support comparable bids by defining a common design and performance basis, scope split, interfaces, and lead-time start points.
  • Negotiate commercial terms covering price basis and escalation, lead time and capacity commitments, payment milestones, delivery sequencing, warranties, and liquidated damages.
  • Negotiate thermal performance, fan power, and noise guarantees and agree on field testing methods.
  • Manage post-award contracts by tracking OEM progress and deliveries, handling change orders and claims, and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Support procurement of heat exchangers, pumps, and other equipment as needed.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision plan options.
  • Employer-paid basic life insurance and short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with up to 6% match.
  • Flexible paid time off and paid parental leave.
  • Family-building, fertility, hormonal health, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting support through Carrot.
  • Dependent care FSA for eligible child and elder care expenses.
  • Annual Lifestyle Spending Account for eligible wellness expenses, including fitness, financial planning, pet insurance, and pet care.
  • Employee ownership opportunities through the Employee Stock Purchase Program, stock option grants, and bonus opportunities for eligible roles.
