About The Position

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for anticipating and forecasting operational, maintenance, and manufacturing rhythms. This role involves reviewing and communicating customer demand, prioritizing and scheduling work, and ensuring schedule attainment, throughput, and on-time delivery. The planner acts as a liaison between the customer and the plant, facilitating understanding of customer priorities and galvanizing efforts to achieve goals. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and monitor inventory and information accurately. The planner must be able to adjust plans "behind the scenes" without causing disruption, create replicable processes, and manage time effectively. Ownership of tasks, including tracking down necessary information and enabling the success of others, is crucial. The role demands balanced attention, focusing on areas of greatest impact, asking "why?", adjusting to customer demands, and coordinating internal resources to deliver, often on short notice. The planner must be able to get things back on track when necessary and align solutions with internal resources. This role also involves interpreting outcomes, understanding complexity and priority for stakeholders, and being business-minded toward plant outcomes to create new levels of performance. The planner will communicate with customers regarding requirements and concerns, respond to inquiries about project status, open orders, and unresolved issues. Direct responsibility includes tracking open items, quoting changes to scope, securing purchase order coverage, and resolving contractual issues. The planner will process orders for an assigned portfolio, including order entry, review, acknowledgment, and resolution of delays. They will also adjust complaints, prepare production reports, and reconcile shipments daily. A key responsibility is producing final forecasts for the Business Center on a monthly basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with 2 years of experience in production planning/scheduling OR 1 or more internships/development rotations in supply chain/production planning in a manufacturing environment OR AA Degree plus 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with production planning/scheduling responsibilities OR 8 years of experience in production planning/scheduling in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with regular and prospective customers concerning requirements, talks with them regarding other customer service-related concerns, and answers any other questions.
  • Fields and promptly responds to inquiries from customers regarding status of key projects, open orders, and any unresolved issues.
  • Exercises direct responsibility for the tracking of open items, for quotation of changes to project work scope, for securing purchase order coverage, and for resolution of contractual issues delaying input or shipment of customer requirements.
  • Processes orders for assigned account portfolio. This includes order entry/maintenance, order review, acknowledgment to the customer, and resolution of items delaying either release to manufacturing or shipments.
  • Adjusts complaints concerning billing or service rendered, referring complaints of service failures to designated departments for investigation.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules work flow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepares production reports and lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Performs a reconciliation of shipments on a daily basis.
  • Produces the final forecasts for the Business Center on a monthly basis.
