About The Position

The Supply Chain & Logistics Supervisor leads the division’s strategic sourcing, procurement, material readiness, and shipping and receiving functions. This role is responsible for creating a proactive process to identify and secure long-lead materials during the quoting stage, with a primary focus on paint requirements for aerospace and aerospace suppliers. The position builds and negotiates supplier relationships, develops dual-source solutions, directs the Shipping & Receiving team, and partners closely with Production to improve material flow and on-time delivery (OTD).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered.
• Five or more years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
• Two or more years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably overseeing shipping, receiving, warehouse, or materials functions.
• Demonstrated experience building supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and commercial terms, and developing alternate or dual-source solutions.
• Experience with aerospace, metal finishing, specialty coatings, paint, chemicals, or other long-lead production materials strongly preferred.
• Experience using ERP and inventory management systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, contract negotiation, influencing, and vendor-management skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, establish accountability, and drive measurable results.
• Strong production-planning awareness and the ability to connect material readiness, scheduling, logistics, and customer delivery performance.
• Analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Ability to anticipate risk, escalate concerns, and follow through with an appropriate sense of urgency.
• Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external suppliers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Experience with aerospace, metal finishing, specialty coatings, paint, chemicals, or other long-lead production materials strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a quote-stage material review and communication process to identify long-lead, constrained, or high-risk materials before customer confirmation.
• Lead the sourcing and procurement of aerospace coatings and paint, with a primary focus on aerospace customers and aerospace supplier requirements, ensuring specifications, approved sources, lead times, and availability are understood.
• Develop dual-source and alternate-supplier strategies for critical materials to reduce supply risk, improve service, and prevent production delays.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and service expectations.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and reliability; address performance concerns and recommend supplier changes when necessary.
• Create and maintain purchase orders in the D365 ERP system, monitor open orders, expedite critical materials, and communicate potential shortages or delays to affected departments. Purchase order receipts in D365 will be entered by designated Shipping & Receiving or Order Entry personnel to maintain appropriate separation between purchasing and receiving responsibilities.
• Maintain appropriate inventory and reorder controls for production materials and supplies, including proper identification, storage, and availability to support the production schedule.
• Review material cost changes and purchase pricing for accuracy; communicate increases or risks that could affect quoting, margins, or division performance; and support Finance in resolving invoice or purchase order discrepancies.
• Provide direct leadership and day-to-day oversight to the Shipping & Receiving team, including work priorities, training, accountability, staffing coordination, and performance expectations.
• Streamline receiving, staging, internal material movement, and outbound shipping processes to reduce delays and move customer product to and from the production floor more efficiently.
• Ensure designated Shipping & Receiving or Order Entry personnel verify received materials against the applicable purchase order and packing documentation and accurately record the receipt in D365. Investigate and resolve quantity, condition, specification, or documentation discrepancies with the supplier and appropriate internal departments.
• Establish standard work and clear ownership for purchase order creation, physical receipt verification, D365 receiving transactions, material handling, documentation, discrepancy resolution, and communication to support consistent execution, appropriate internal controls, and operational continuity.
• Partner closely with Production and scheduling to validate that required materials are in house and available before work is released or customer product arrives at the division.
• Lead cross-functional efforts to improve OTD by identifying root causes, assigning corrective actions, tracking progress, and removing supply chain or logistics barriers.
• Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators, including supplier delivery, material availability, receiving cycle time, shipping accuracy, and customer OTD.
• Collaborate with Customer Care, Estimating, Sales, Quality, Finance, and Operations to ensure customer requirements, material needs, and delivery commitments are clearly communicated and supported.
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports, records, supplier documentation, procedures, and files; perform other duties as assigned.
