About The Position

At Cooper University Health Care, the Supply Chain team is dedicated to managing goods and services responsibly to deliver value for the Health Care System, improve the patient experience, and reduce risks. The team is structured into several strategic divisions: Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Distribution, Inventory Optimization, and Data Management. This internship program seeks highly resourceful and motivated students to join the team. Interns will partner with team members across all divisions to work on a variety of analysis, operational, financial, and practical application projects covering all facets of the healthcare supply chain industry. The program offers the opportunity to work on real-world problems, be involved in the entire lifecycle of the healthcare supply chain ecosystem, and collaborate with business leaders to define problems and communicate outcomes. The Supply Chain Intern will complete a minimum of 200 hours of participation on-site at various locations of The Cooper Health System, working with leaders and team members of the Supply Chain Divisions. The work schedule will be developed individually to accommodate the student’s class schedules and availability, with hours completed during normal business hours of 8 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Additionally, the intern will work with the VP of Supply Chain to develop a project addressing an opportunity for increased resiliency, efficiency, or cost management within the supply chain ecosystem, which will be presented to the Senior Finance Leadership Team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with equipment manufacturers, vendors, brokers, and suppliers
  • Results-driven mindset with a track record of optimizing asset value and return on investment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Proficiency in office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, or other closely related field
  • GPA of at least 3.0
  • College degree or current enrollment in a degree program - Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or Healthcare Administration

Responsibilities

  • Partner with team members across all divisions of the Supply Chain to work on a variety of analysis, operational, financial, and practical application projects covering all facets of the healthcare supply chain industry.
  • Work on real world problems within the healthcare supply chain ecosystem.
  • Work with business leaders to define problems and communicate outcomes.
  • Complete a minimum of 200 hours of participation on site at various locations of The Cooper Health System.
  • Work with leaders and team members of the Supply Chain Divisions.
  • Work with members of the Strategic Sourcing Team to learn tasks required to be completed for upstream sourcing assessments of market activity, contract portfolio management, and supplier contracting processes.
  • Work with members of the Procurement Team to learn the processes associated with purchasing and obtaining materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the Health Care System to meet its organizational objectives.
  • Work with members of the Distribution Team to learn the functions to balance supply and demand through the implementation of technology, workflow processes, and labor management.
  • Work with members of the Inventory Optimization Team to learn how to ensure product control is managed efficiently by implementing tools, technology, processes, and techniques to track inventory in real time, forecast demand, set appropriate PAR levels, and optimize space.
  • Work with members of the Data Management Team to learn how to collect, organize, and accesses data which will support productivity, efficiency, and decision-making in regards to the supply chain functions.
  • Work with the VP of Supply Chain to develop a project which addresses an opportunity for increased resiliency, efficiency, or cost management within an aspect of the supply chain ecosystem.
  • Present their project along with any findings and recommendations for process improvement to the Senior Finance Leadership Team.
