We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Intern to join our dynamic transportation group in our St. Louis, MO Office for a summer term position. As a Supply Chain Intern Student you will have the opportunity to develop studied skills, gain hands-on experience and grow your industry knowledge not only in Transportation and Supply Chain but also in International Business, Finance and Marketing as you pursue your degree. As your skill levels and business knowledge develop, you will be faced with more challenges and complex responsibilities within the organization.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply chain.
  • Those who are able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Possess above average organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Customer focused with exceptional communication skills;
  • Are able to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks; and
  • Have demonstrated computer experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day activities in coordinating the logistics, transportation, and warehousing of grains and oilseeds & also finished goods such as cooking oil, durum semolina and pasta.
  • Assist with rail activities related to the Durum Milling units – learn bulk rail to truck transloading, direct to customer shipments and how to expedite, prepare BOLs along with rail demurrage best practices
  • Work collaboratively with bulk pneumatic truck and dry van carriers securing rates, preparing the rate analysis and reviewing with sales to secure additional business.
  • Work collaboratively with Durum Milling Operations, Sales, Transportation Carriers to troubleshoot shipment delays and customer concerns towards a positive resolution
  • Work collaboratively with 3PL warehousing and transportation partners and participate in rate and contract negotiations, problem resolution, customer complaints, shipping discrepancies, etc.
  • Work within Rail and Truck Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Enter and update grain sales contracts into the system
  • Prepare contract settlements as directed by the Merchant
  • Prepare customer invoicing according to the sales contract
  • Process accounts payable vouchers for payment
