About The Position

Physical Intelligence is bringing general-purpose AI into the physical world. We are a team of engineers, scientists, roboticists, and company builders developing foundation models and learning algorithms to power the robots of today and the physically-actuated devices of the future. This role is part of the hardware team but the individual will work closely with our manufacturing and fabrication teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in sourcing strategy and supplier execution for a full robot Bill of Materials (BOM), including components like actuators, motors, gearboxes, sensors, compute modules, PCBAs, harnessing, and mechanical/structural assemblies.
  • Proven ability to build and expand a resilient global supply base, ensuring supply continuity through supplier selection, capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience establishing sourcing processes, metrics, and supplier performance management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to own BOM cost targets and drive cost improvements through negotiation, should-cost analysis, and value engineering.
  • Experience partnering with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and compute engineering teams to drive design for manufacturability, supply chain resilience, and cost optimization.
  • Experience ensuring material continuity across in-house and outsourced manufacturing, including determining order quantities, running RFQ/RFP, and driving inventory accuracy and forecast efficiency using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience developing multi-source strategies for critical and allocation-sensitive components and mitigating geopolitical and single-source risks.
  • Experience negotiating pricing, lead times, allocation, and commercial agreements.
  • Experience leading the transition from prototype and in-house manufacturing toward contract manufacturing, including CM selection, qualification, onboarding, and operational scaling.
  • Experience supporting NPI and production ramp activities with suppliers and manufacturing partners globally.
  • Experience performing supplier financial research, spend analysis, and cost/capacity scenario analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Own sourcing strategy and supplier execution across the full robot BOM: actuators, motors, gearboxes, sensors, compute modules, PCBAs, harnessing, and mechanical / structural assemblies.
  • Build and expand a resilient global supply base, securing supply continuity through supplier selection, capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish sourcing processes, metrics, and supplier performance management frameworks appropriate for a rapidly scaling robotics organization.
  • Own BOM cost targets as the platform scales from pilot builds to large-scale deployment; drive cost improvements through negotiation, should-cost analysis, and value engineering.
  • Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and compute engineering teams to drive design for manufacturability, supply chain resilience, and cost optimization.
  • Ensure material continuity across in-house and outsourced manufacturing — determining order quantities, running RFQ/RFP, and driving inventory accuracy and forecast efficiency using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Develop multi-source strategies for critical and allocation-sensitive components (including high-performance compute) and proactively mitigate geopolitical and single-source risks.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, allocation, and commercial agreements to meet aggressive cost, quality, and production targets.
  • Lead the transition from prototype and in-house manufacturing toward contract manufacturing, including CM selection, qualification, onboarding, and operational scaling.
  • Support NPI and production ramp activities with suppliers and manufacturing partners across Asia Pacific and other global regions.
  • Perform supplier financial research, spend analysis, and cost / capacity scenario analysis; synthesize and communicate findings and supply risks to engineering and executive leadership.
