About The Position

As a Supply Chain Coordinator, VMI at Interfor, you will be responsible for managing full cycle vendor-managed inventory activities for lumber customers. This includes forecasting and coordinating replenishment, weekly inventory reconciliations, and consumption invoicing. This role works closely with the customers, operations, sales, logistics, and finance to ensure we are meeting our contract obligations, customer service requirements, and resolving discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory planning, customer service, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, replenishment planning, order management, and shipment tracking processes.
  • Ability to work with planning, reporting, and data analysis tools, including Excel and business intelligence platforms such as Tableau.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Logical, precise, and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to respond quickly to production plan changes, shipping issues, or customer needs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and customers.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to accuracy, responsiveness, and relationship building.

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Wood Products, Business, or another relevant degree is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with logistics, production planning, and mills to ensure inventory is available when needed and orders are entered in alignment with overall sales and production strategies.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to monitor shipping dates, evaluate safe and cost-efficient loading configurations (loading patterns), and track in transit shipments by rail or truck to ensure accurate transit times.
  • Plan replenishment orders within the planning horizon based on customer inventory requirements and/or historical demand, expected consumption rates, target inventory levels, mill capacity, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor customer inventory daily to ensure levels remain within customer min/max thresholds and internal inventory targets; reconcile inventory weekly and address discrepancies or claims as needed.
  • Access customer systems to download demand and inventory information, then use planning tools to project future inventory needs and support replenishment decisions.
  • Prepare weekly billing based on consumed items and support receivables teams in resolving payment deductions or billing discrepancies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, responding promptly and accurately to requests while building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
