Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technical related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP ERP software within the procurement function.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite Software, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in procurement of electrical components.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving ability.

Nice To Haves

  • C.P.M. or CPIM Certification, member of Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and/or APICS, The Association for Operations Management
  • Willingness and aptitude for learning commodity-specific knowledge leading toward a career path as a Commodity Manager and further Supply Chain Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, procure, and plan inventory.
  • Execute material-related support for specific commodities and/or product lines.
  • Achieve company goals for inventory while ensuring manufacturing objectives are met.
  • Place purchase orders to approved suppliers within the SAP MRP system according to the stock requirements screen.
  • Maintain lead time, cost, and supplier delivery data within the SAP MRP system.
  • Expedite and follow up on open purchase orders as required.
  • Proactively identify supplier delivery issues and establish improvement/mitigation plans.
  • Represent the Supply Chain team by committing supplier deliverables to Operations.
  • Identify potential issues and assist Commodity Managers by implementing inventory/supplier strategies.
  • Initiate supplier meetings when delivery and/or quality performance is not meeting expectations.
  • Escalate critical supplier performance issues to Management.
  • Work with Supplier Quality Engineers to manage supplier non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Ensure Engineering Change Orders are processed timely and accurately.
  • Assist in the identification of component substitutions for obsolete and hard-to-find products.
  • Assist Commodity Managers in data analysis for supplier negotiations and optimizing product supply.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in material costs.
  • Assist the Commodity Manager in the transition of supply from one source to an alternate.
  • Participate and actively seek continual improvement in Gleason’s procurement processes and SAP utilization.
  • Participate in and/or lead other Supply Chain-oriented projects and initiatives.
