Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) or vocational studies diploma (DEP)
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing or as a methods/industrialization engineer
  • In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing techniques and equipment, such as milling, turning, drilling, broaching, honing, boring, deburring, and grinding
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to read, understand, and extract required information from applicable aerospace standards such as AS, AMS, NAS, MS, and SAE, as well as customer specifications, including those from Boeing, Bell, Safran, and others
  • Understanding of 3D modeling, interpretation of views, and ability to review 3D models using CAD software such as CATIA or SolidWorks
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in French and English
  • Knowledge of English due to the necessary communications with our various suppliers, clients, auditors, and other subsidiaries of the organization that are international

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic complex system assembly techniques is an asset
  • Knowledge of special aerospace processes used in the industry is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Participate in visits to new suppliers with the Purchasing team to assess their technical capabilities
  • Participate in supplier, part, and program risk analyses in order to evaluate manufacturing aspects (capability fit / purchase order allocation)
  • Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers to address questions related to drawings and specifications
  • Lead technical audits at suppliers to validate the understanding and proper integration of requirements into routing sheets and inspection plans during industrialization phases
  • Support the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) team as well as our production sites during investigations related to supplier non-conformities / escapes
  • Work closely with the SQA team, buyers, site quality managers, Materials & Processes engineers, methods engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure product robustness
  • For proprietary programs, intervene during the design phase to review drawings intended for the supply chain with a focus on manufacturability, participate in engineering technical meetings during the design phase to assess the manufacturability of supplier parts (externally sourced by HDI), and provide continuous improvement recommendations by adopting a design-for-manufacturing approach
