Lead, Supplier Quality Engineering Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Quality Manufacturing in YYJ, Lead, Supplier Quality Engineering is responsible for driving supplier quality performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the supply chain. This role provides technical leadership for supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, audits, Process and Product corrective actions, performance monitoring, and risk management. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure products and services meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or a related field.
  • Experience working within AS9100, ISO9001, or equivalent quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting supplier, internal, or external audits.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier quality systems, auditing, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and DMAIC.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor designation is considered an asset.
  • Six Sigma certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality initiatives to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, manage, and train a group of supplier quality engineers in day to day priorities to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiencies are being met.
  • Manage supplier approval, qualification, and ongoing performance monitoring processes.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and support supplier risk assessments.
  • Develop and monitor supplier quality metrics, scorecards, and improvement plans.
  • Lead supplier audits and assessments in accordance with AS9100, ISO9001, and internal quality standards.
  • Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and supplier production readiness activities.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Supplier Quality Engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain supplier quality procedures, standards, and documentation.
  • Prepare and present supplier quality performance reports to management.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations, working closely with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Mentor and lead the Supplier quality team with Correct action Boards with Suppliers and help resolve the product issues.
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives throughout the supply chain.
