About The Position

As a GM Energy Quality Engineering Lead, you will execute the APQP process — reviewing program progress, mitigating risks, and protecting GM Energy customers. You will assure supplier compliance with PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, and Run at Rate requirements while leading root cause analysis and driving corrective actions cross-functionally. The successful candidate will own the outcome, engage directly in the details, and move with urgency — one who assumes accountability, learns from setbacks, and adjusts course to support broader business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a technical focus (Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, etc.)
  • 3+ years in Quality or Engineering applicable to automotive production or EV chargers/adapters
  • Proficiency in print reading, part measurement, gage design and function
  • Comprehension of GD&T, manufacturing/assembly processes, and statistical quality control
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and apply sound technical judgment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Evidence of strong character — win with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years in Quality or Engineering applicable to automotive production or EV chargers/adapters
  • Experience in circuit board manufacturing or other electrical components (preferred)
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading others preferred
  • Supplier quality experience in Asia with cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to innovate and embrace change — think strategically, connect quality work to larger initiatives, and demonstrate high learning agility
  • Ability to distill complex technical information clearly across language and cultural barriers
  • Demonstrated passion and attention to detail — prepared to speak to direct personal involvement in driving outcomes
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority

Responsibilities

  • Execute APQP with assigned suppliers to meet or exceed program milestones
  • Conduct Program Reviews and escalate issues with a bias for action
  • Ensure the supply base adheres to GME standards and processes contain out-of-standard conditions
  • Drive quality issue resolution cross-functionally with a commitment to the customer at the center of every decision
  • Analyze warranty returns to identify trends and drive short-term containment and long-term corrective actions focused on improving customer experience
  • Proactively engage in emerging issues regardless of whether responsibility falls within your defined role
  • Evening hour availability to bridge the 12-hour time zone gap working with international suppliers
  • Build strong supplier partnerships — establish trust, lead as one team, influence without direct authority, and navigate cultural and language differences with patience and inclusivity
  • Speak fearlessly — address challenging situations with candor and hold stakeholders accountable through direct, respectful communication
  • Lead issue resolution tracking utilizing the PRTS system
  • Leverage data analytics to identify opportunities that enhance the quality and safety of GM Energy products
