About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineer will support Quality strategies to achieve targets aligned with Company goals and objectives. This role involves reviewing past performances, performing risk assessments, defining key focus areas, and implementing robust process controls for managing suppliers to prevent defects. The engineer will use and support data systems to collect and evaluate supplier quality related key performance indicators (KPIs), issue periodical quality performance reports, and ensure appropriate improvement actions are initiated. They will also contribute to supplier quality related reports in the plant, continuously track target setting and plan fulfillment, and perform process audits. The role requires securing implementation and compliance to IATF and VDA standards, and managing lessons learned and read across. Communication involves maintaining and expanding business partnerships with customers and suppliers, understanding customer requirements, and ensuring Continental Quality requirements are understood and complied with by suppliers. Collaboration with management during supplier escalations, working with SQM CI for successful handover of projects, and participating in workshops/trainings are also key. The engineer will drive and coordinate with suppliers to analyze material issues and implement preventive actions, and support the consolidation/coordination of supplier-related Non-Conformance Cost (NCC) through SCB process or cost deduction through RMA. Problem-solving includes executing supplier management activities to track quality deviations, driving root cause analysis and implementation of counter measures, advancing the use of statistical tools, driving scrap performance improvement, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools, and supporting new product launches and model rolls. Basic TPM, Kaizen, and Lean initiatives in the manufacturing environment will also be supported.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 2 years experience in manufacturing quality
  • Travel as needed to support operations
  • Knowledge IATF 16949 quality standards
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and manufacturing-related software applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead cross-functional projects
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Able to work outside of traditional work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality strategies to achieve the targets aligned with Company goals and objectives
  • Review past performances, perform risk assessment versus company goals and objectives.
  • Define key focus areas, measurables, targets and identify projects that will impact the achievement of SQM KPI's.
  • Deploy agreed SQM Quality strategy to all interested parties
  • Implement robust process controls in managing Suppliers to prevent defects from entering the shopfloor (scrap, NCC, blocked stocks) to achieve the profit target.
  • Use and support the data system to collect and evaluate supplier quality related key performance indicators (KPI's) and issue periodical quality performance reports and ensure that appropriate improvement actions are initiated
  • Contribute to the supplier quality related report in the plant (KPI driven)
  • Continuous tracking of the target setting and plan fulfillment (monitoring, analysis control) in the context of Supplier Quality Management System
  • Perform process audits (maintenance and nonconformance) for the plant as planned and scheduled
  • Secure implementation and compliance to IATF and VDA standards

  • Maintain and expand the business partnership with customers, suppliers and other interested parties.
  • Understand customer requirements and deliver accordingly
  • Ensures Continental Quality requirements are clearly understood by Supplier and complied during series production
  • Collaborate with Business Area / SQM Category / Central Function management during Supplier escalation if necessary (i.e. Red Alert, Early Warning, CSL)
  • Works w/ SQM CI for successful handover of projects from New product introduction to Series Production
  • Actively participate in Continental / supplier workshop / trainings to gain understanding of New industry technologies
  • Supports supplier audit for New business/product/technology when necessary
  • Drives and coordinates with Suppliers to analyze material issues and implement preventive actions to reduce / eliminate SCB / cost deductions
  • Supports in the consolidation / coordination of the supplier related Non conformance Cost (NCC) thru SCB process or cost deduction thru RMA
  • Execute the consequent supplier management activities to track any quality deviations (zero tolerance for defects)
  • Drive root cause analysis and enforce the definition and implementation of appropriate counter measures at the supplier to ensure that the parts and services meet the defined quality requirements
  • Advance use of statistical tools to analyze data and identify root cause of defects
  • Drives scrap performance improvement and management
  • Utilizes advanced problem-solving tools and processes to reduce manufacturing defects
  • Supports new product launches and model rolls
  • Drives basic TPM, Kaizen and Lean initiatives in the manufacturing environment
