About The Position

This is an UNPAID internship through the Hire Vets Now (HVN) SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty military personnel. HVN SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. Newport News Shipbuilding Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with Newport News Shipbuilding. General Job Description – Supplier Quality Analyst (SQA): Plans, organizes, and reviews required objective quality evidence (OQE) provided by suppliers for purchased/manufactured material. The reviews are conducted to the applicable material specifications, drawings, engineering documents, etc., to assure full compliance/fulfillment of purchase order requirements. Review includes, but is not limited to, the contracted manufacturer, and/or their sub-tier manufactures or testing laboratories. Depending on specific job assignment, individual may inspect actual material (hardware) at suppliers’ facilities for adherence to the drawing, engineering document, purchase order requirements, etc., using mechanical gages. Documents results of inspections within the SAP computer tracking system. Documents discrepancies found during inspection and works with procurement, engineering, trades, etc., to resolve discrepancies or initiates return of the material to the supplier. SQA’s support and assist in audits by the customer for key events and ship certification.

Requirements

  • Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.
  • Transitioning Military candidates can begin applying within final 12 months of military service.
  • Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.
  • An active security clearance is needed

Responsibilities
