About The Position

Austin Community College is seeking a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader to support a course by attending lectures, holding collaborative study group sessions, and performing basic administrative tasks. This role involves acting as a model student, facilitating SI sessions, holding office hours, managing administrative duties, and advertising SI sessions to students. The SI Leader is also responsible for completing all related SI Leader trainings.

Requirements

  • Achieved an A or high B in the course being supported
  • Nominated by a faculty member
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and student information and database systems
  • Maintaining an established work schedule
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

Responsibilities

  • Attend class as a model student, and take notes
  • Conduct 2-3 supplemental instruction (SI) sessions (3 hours total) per week
  • Hold 1 hour of office time per week
  • Complete administrative tasks including session planning, updating attendance data, and responding to emails from the SI Team
  • Submit bi-monthly timesheets on time
  • Advertise the SI sessions to the students in the class
  • Complete all related SI Leader trainings
