About The Position

As a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. You will also be a team leader to the associates, ensuring the work environment is positive and productive. Through a continuous learning environment, you will be able to stay current on products we sell and be able to articulate our purpose in a manner that is educational, insightful, and professional. You should have a positive and outgoing nature that enjoys serving others and making a positive impact on the organization.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of Retail or relevant work experience required.
  • 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
  • Must be able to make change in American monetary units.
  • Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win-win situations.
  • Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
  • May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
  • Work typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
  • 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
  • 1 year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess or have potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
  • Ask questions and listen to customer's needs.
  • Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
  • Provide premier customer service.
  • Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships, taking accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
  • Maintain store appearance.
  • Cross-selling products and knowing the layout of the store.
  • Make suggestions to customers on the latest trends and current promotions based on their individual needs.
  • Upselling products.
  • Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge and specifications.
  • Use a Point-of-Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, and handle cash, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
  • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
  • Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. May participate in periodic inventories.
  • Be responsible for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
  • Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects and tasks, and managing merchandise and inventory.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule.
  • Ensure accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
  • Provide effective leadership, demonstrate the ability to direct, train, and motivate associates, and set a positive example.
  • Provide coaching and feedback timely and professionally.
  • Provide direction, work assignments, and training to sales associates, and provide input to the Department Manager on associate performance.
  • May open and close locations.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
