This position is located in Dover, Delaware, at Dover Air Force Base (AFB). Dover AFB is a United States Air Force (USAF) base operated by Air Mobility Command (AMC) and hosts the 436th Airlift Wing, which manages the busiest and largest air freight terminal in the Department of Defense. The facility, originally constructed as a Municipal Airport, has a long history, dating back to March 1941, and was converted to a U.S. Army Air Corps airfield shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It has undergone several name changes and was officially renamed Dover Air Force Base on January 13, 1948, following the establishment of the USAF. Federal civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) for medical malpractice liability, eliminating the need for separate insurance. Working for the Department of Defense offers numerous benefits, including competitive compensation, paid time off, medical benefits, student loan repayment options, and a retirement package with employer-matched contributions to the Thrift Savings Plan. Salary negotiation may be available for new federal employees, and a recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.
