About The Position

This position is a great opportunity for paralegals looking to develop their management skills in support of high visibility cases for the Department of Justice. You will gain invaluable litigation experience as you go through various phases of the EDRM spectrum while assisting and supporting the Department of Justice in their efforts to prosecute perpetrators of Financial Fraud crimes. Supervise a staff of law clerks and paralegals who provide direct support to Federal prosecutors. Requirements

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience in automated litigation support, or JD or currently attending ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. An equivalent level of legal training or experience may be substituted.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the work of paralegals and other support staff.
  • Perform complex legal and factual research utilizing Relativity and other eDiscovery software.
  • Interact with staff and DOJ case teams during the planning and execution of project requirements, schedules and all litigation support activities.
  • Monitor work and reports on progress of investigative and support tasks.
  • Ensure that staff and support team's work meet contract and attorney requirements and is delivered on time.
  • Troubleshoot and performs quality control spot-checks.
  • Formulate administrative and technical procedures to ensure work/tasks are completed.
  • Design and develop systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits and other case-specific materials.
  • Assist trial staff in coordination with expert witnesses and litigation consultants.
  • Coordinate with other contractor support staff components, including data processing support staff, in order to accomplish work.
  • Arrange for access to appropriate DOJ libraries and other legal research facilities.
  • Report to Project Supervisor or Project Manager; may also have significant contact with COR, Government Case Manager, trial attorneys and staff, client agency staff, and opposing counsel.
