About The Position

The position will be located at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Located in the beautiful Chesapeake Bay area of Northeast Maryland, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is the innovation installation of the Army. Established in 1917, APG is the oldest active proving ground in the country. It is recognized as one of the world’s most important research, development, testing and evaluation facilities for military weapons and equipment, and supports the finest teams of military and civilian scientists, research engineers, technicians and administrators. Centrally located about 45 minutes between Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA and just 5 minutes off Interstate 95, APG is surrounded in history, natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, bird watching and boating. Requirements

  • US Citizenship required
  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination
  • Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled Family Medicine equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Primary Care team leader providing comprehensive outpatient care to beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions.
  • Advises other physicians, non-physician providers, and nursing and para-professional staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non-urgent medical problems.
  • Documents clinical encounters and patient instructions into the medical record via current electronic medical record system and prepares clinical narrative summaries for both civilian and military occupational programs promptly.
  • Provides clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team.
  • Serves as member of the professional medical staff following and modifying hospital plans and policies to meet accrediting agencies’ (AAAHC or TJC) requirements
  • Provides administrative and technical advice and assistance to physicians, nurses, and physician assistants.
  • Provides direct primary outpatient care including gynecologic, prenatal obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric care.
  • Performs ambulatory surgical procedures including but not limited to casting/splinting, suturing, excisional skin biopsies.
  • Independently formulates full treatment and management regimens based on sound diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
