The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a professional aerospace engineer in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment. Duties include providing technical leadership and oversight for MH-139A rotary-wing flight systems, including utilities and subsystems, flight controls, flying qualities, propulsion, airframe/structures, human factors, rotor systems, and armament systems. The role involves leading airworthiness, safety-of-flight, and systems engineering assessments across development and sustainment activities, ensuring aircraft safety, suitability, mission effectiveness, and compliance with applicable military and commercial airworthiness standards. The engineer will identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; lead complex failure investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action implementation using established failure review and engineering methodologies. Additionally, the position requires directing and integrating aircraft integrity and subsystem-health efforts—including Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP), Mechanical Equipment and Subsystems Integrity Program (MECSIP), and Propulsion System Integrity Program (PSIP)—to manage fatigue, failure, readiness, and long-term platform safety risks. The role also involves supervising, mentoring, and developing a diverse flight-systems engineering workforce, and communicating technical findings and recommendations to program leadership and Air Force Global Strike Command stakeholders, while coordinating with functional engineering organizations to leverage enterprise resources.
