About The Position

This is a term appointment, not to exceed one year and one day, with possible extension based on agency needs. The position is a supervisory law-enforcement role with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), in one of the listed Field Office areas of responsibility. Duty location preferences are not guaranteed, and assignments depend on agency needs. The position is at the full performance level and is covered by the ERO 1801 Law Enforcement Officer Mobility Program, requiring agreement to geographic reassignment as operational needs dictate. The incumbent supports the Field Office Director (FOD) in managing enforcement activities through subordinate supervisors responsible for detention and removal operations and related services. The role coordinates complex operations with ICE units, other federal agencies, and domestic and foreign partners; develops and implements detention and removal policies; serves as a technical expert and liaison; and provides supervisory direction, including work assignment and review, leave approval, and employee guidance. The job requires frequent, short-notice travel and the ability to carry a firearm and maintain proficiency. It involves strenuous physical activity, potentially dangerous and stressful conditions, and long, irregular hours that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled overtime. A background investigation, drug screening, and potentially a pre-employment medical examination and physical fitness test are required. Applicants must have completed an accepted basic immigration law-enforcement training program; additional training may be required depending on prior experience.
