About The Position

This announcement will be used to establish a register of qualified candidates for the position of Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Patrol Agent in Charge). To be considered, applicants must have submitted their application by midnight on the closing date of the announcement. This register will be used to fill vacancies occurring from October 5th, 2026, until a new announcement is published. Please note that the availability of vacancies during this period is not guaranteed. This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
  • All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English

  • Must be able to meet job-related medical and/or fitness standards
  • Managing and overseeing operations that align with the Border Patrol mission and objectives.
  • Identifying challenges and problems that require solutions to ensure compliance with enforcement and operational practices; including analyzing local conditions and deploying applicable resources to mitigate identified threats.
  • Coordinating station-wide intelligence activities that involves intelligence information gained through operations and informants, while ensuring the proper use of resources and technology used for threat analysis.
  • Serving as a selecting official and providing guidance on personnel actions within the station while reviewing performance plans and managing employee relations issues.
  • Managing several programs in order to ensure maximum cost effectiveness in the programs' operations and making recommendations on the means to minimize costs within the station.
  • Specialized Experience in law enforcement or other responsible work that demonstrated the ability to: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with individuals or groups of persons in a courteous, tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions or take prompt and appropriate law enforcement action in light of applicable laws, court decisions, and sound law enforcement procedures; and develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
  • Must be proficient in the Spanish language. (i.e., able to speak and read in Spanish).
  • Must possess the ability to operate a Government Owned Vehicle. A valid, non-restricted driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher level clearance for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all station-wide operations from administrative functions to enforcement initiatives, while directing station-wide intelligence and interdiction activities, both foreign and domestic, involving the collection, correlation, evaluation, and dissemination of intelligence information gained through operations, informants, and liaison development programs.
  • Exercising supervisory and managerial responsibilities over subordinates and support staff employees to accomplish mission objectives and foster the development of others by facilitating cooperation and teamwork with supporting agencies and supporting constructive resolutions of conflicts with partnering agencies.
  • Participating with other Border Patrol program officials regarding relevant laws and regulations and maintains a cooperative relationship with CBP and DHS agencies, utilizing local resources to maximize consequences, support agency directed initiatives, and in implementing the national strategy.
  • Maintaining the station's budget and hiring by managing several programs that have significant resources and monitors and analyzes all personnel, financial, and material needs in to order to ensure the maximum cost effectiveness in the programs' operations, while making recommendations for the selection of supervisors and nonsupervisory subordinates, providing for effective performance management of subordinate staff.
  • Leading and participating in joint planning and intelligence gathering activities, such as the collection, correlation, evaluation, and dissemination of intelligence information gained through operations, informants, and liaison development programs and conducts interagency operations in several operational domains on the land, lakes and rivers, and in the air; supervising and directing federal law enforcement program initiatives of considerable difficulty and complexity in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of individuals who violate the Immigration and Nationality Act and related laws.
