About The Position

The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing the operations of designated nursing units or patient-care areas. The position combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities and offers an opportunity to develop management skills for potential future Nurse Manager roles. The ANM typically assists the NM rather than independently carrying out the NM’s responsibilities on a routine basis, and may provide coverage for other ANMs as needed. The role includes a 50% direct clinical component within the service area. The ANM coordinates aspects of patient care, advocates at the service level for safe and efficient care, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to address barriers and implement evidence-based programs and processes. The ANM contributes to care-delivery models and environmental design, supports compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and aligns clinical objectives with organizational strategy. The ANM oversees staff orientation, training, development, and performance evaluation, and exercises or recommends supervisory actions for employees under direct supervision. The position also includes regular Environment of Care rounds across clinics and the facility, as well as regular rounding to support employee engagement. Physical demands are those commonly associated with nursing and direct patient care, including prolonged walking, standing, or sitting, moderate lifting, and assisting patients and moving equipment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Telework is ad hoc; the position is not virtual. Relocation and recruitment incentives and permanent change-of-station authorization are not offered.
