About The Position

Since 1946 Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) has delivered the VCS benefits to millions of Veterans enrolled in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Healthcare system, the largest Healthcare system in the United States. VCS is a program office in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) that is Veteran facing, providing America’s Veterans enrolled in VA’s Health Care System, their families, caregivers and VA employees, reasonably priced merchandise, and services essential to their comfort and well-being. The VCS Central Office Headquarters, located at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is conducting a recruitment search for a Supervisory Accountant in our Finance Center. In this role, you will report to the Accounts Payable Manager and play a critical role in the operations of the Finance Center.

Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Supervises and directs daily operations of assigned staff, including work assignments, scheduling, leave approval, performance management, employee development, and resolution of workplace issues.
Analyzes financial transactions and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper financial reporting.
Prepares routine financial reports and assists with fiscal year-end closeout activities to support organizational financial operations.
Develops procedural guidance and provides recommendations for improvements to accounting processes, policies, and automated financial systems.
Evaluates financial and statistical data and advises management by recommending solutions to complex financial or operational issues.
Participates in organizational meetings, delivers training, develops instructional materials, and collaborates with stakeholders to support Finance Center initiatives.
Perform and adapt to additional responsibilities as needed.
