About The Position

The Supervisor oversees contractor performance on all vegetation management work for a territory consisting of multiple crews in one or more states. This role requires strong leadership, contract management, and a deep understanding of safety and operational standards within the electric utility vegetation management sector. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to customer expectations, while also driving process improvements and managing costs effectively.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of recent experience with contractor supervision and/or contract management.
  • Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries.
  • High School diploma or education equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory.
  • Proven ability to deal with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Must be results-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
  • Must meet I-9 requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional vocational or technical training preferred.
  • CDL license beneficial.
  • Knowledge in line clearance tree trimming standards a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, leadership, and training to others through day-to-day contact.
  • Prioritize, direct, monitor, and evaluate the performance of contractors.
  • Direct assigned employees in safe work procedures, work effectiveness, on-the-job training, construction standards, proper care and use of material and equipment, customer service, and company policy and compliance with contracts as well as state and local laws.
  • Enforce and comply with all federal safety policies, practices, and procedures; ensure that contractors know, understand, and apply all safety rules, OSHA and EPA regulations, good work practices, and proper craftsmanship techniques to their work.
  • Ensure work is performed on schedule, within competitive cost standards, and in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Control costs by estimating labor, materials, and other costs to complete work in a safe and competitive manner.
  • Coordinate staff, material, and equipment with other company and contract teams to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Improve work processes to enhance on-the-job safety, quality of work, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness for the company; encourage participation of others to develop suggestions for work efficiency.
  • Serve as Company representative to call in contractors during non-scheduled hours for emergency work.
  • Maintain accurate staff, safety, work, and job cost records including activity unit costs, equipment and material use, and contractor performance.
  • Prepare, control, and administer project budgets to achieve maximum business results relating to overall performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
  • Perform duties for storm work as needed.
