About The Position
The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing tasks from the ground, observing all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone. The role involves following and enforcing safe practices and rules, working from the ground to keep the work area clear of debris using various tools, preparing and feeding brush into a woodchipper, loading and unloading trucks, operating various trucks and equipment, performing basic maintenance, tying knots, safeguarding employees and the public from hazards, and flagging traffic. The position requires the ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies. This is a full-time position with specific hours assigned by a supervisor, and may require overtime and/or weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license required.
- Must meet I-9 requirements.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities
- Supports the crew by performing tasks from the ground.
- Observes all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone.
- Follows and helps enforce safe practice and rules.
- Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
- Defines staging areas.
- Sets up and breaks down material, tools, and equipment as required.
- Prepares and feeds brush into woodchipper.
- Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
- Operates various trucks and equipment as assigned.
- Performs basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; reports the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
- Ties knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
- Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Flags traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
- Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
