About The Position

This 3rd Shift position is located in Whitehall, MI and will direct and motivate the Howmet Research Center test lab, rapid prototyping, and core prototyping personnel to perform tasks with high quality in an efficient and safe manner and ensure that output meets business and customer needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years leadership experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance systems, such as ISO9000, AS9100, Nadcap, ISO17025.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, have good team building skills, excellent people skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, technically oriented
  • Must be energetic and a self-starter who is able to promote and implement change, have strong software application, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere

Responsibilities

  • Supervises an effective team; includes planning and holding meetings, preparing and conducting performance appraisals as appropriate, managing staffing levels (including vacations, overtime, and leaves of absences), assisting with career development (motivates, coaches, and trains to acquire maximum quality, productivity, morale, and cooperation), approving time and attendance, and prioritizing and making work assignments.
  • Provides effective feedback to employees, both positive and negative. Maintains appropriate documentation for all disciplinary actions taken
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices
  • Directs training and orientation of employees to ensure EHS rules are known and understood, to improve work performance, and acquaint employees with company policies and procedures
  • Schedules production and work team, including absence communication and coverage.
  • Communicates work status with the production facilities
  • Responsible for the HRC facility on 3rd shift – primary point of contact, inputting work orders, communicating equipment needs, addressing weather-related issues, such as leaking roof, flooding, environmental control, etc.
  • Perform EH&S and Quality Assurance audits
  • Promotes EH&S, continuous improvement initiatives, and culture
  • Gain a deep understanding of operational processes and safety protocols
  • Builds positive rapport with employees; frequent presence in employee work areas.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
