The Supervisor-Water Treatment Plant Maintenance oversees, supervises, manages, and monitors all mechanical work completed on wastewater and water treatment plant facilities. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Water Treatment Plant Facilities and operations
  • Knowledge of safety rules and precautions.
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, water meters, and other equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and implement solutions.
  • Ability to plan, assign, train, direct, and evaluate administrative, trade/technical, or professional employees.
  • Ability to read various manuals and diagrams
  • Ability to use and instruct in various types of hand tools, power tools, and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to supervise and manage a staff, assign work, and give performance feedback.
  • Ability to understand technical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain record keeping or work log system.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) years of experience in repair/maintenance of heavy water/sewage plant equipment
  • Two (2) years of experience with lead work/supervisory/project management responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, expertise, and direction for the water treatment plant facilities maintenance and operation; prioritizes tasks, schedules and assigns work, and oversees maintenance schedules and related work.
  • Supervises, oversees, manages, and directs subordinate mechanical personnel engaged in breakdown and preventative maintenance, installation of new and updated parts, and modification of plant equipment for the facilities; manages inventory and keeps accurate track of maintenance, repair, and replacement operations.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of long range plans, programs, and schedules; determines goals and objectives needing emphasis; directs and coordinates work through leaders or team chiefs, and provides mechanical, technical, and other maintenance direction as needed.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and checks repair and maintenance work performed by technicians; assesses and inspects mechanical work and ensures compliance with OEM specifications; ensures proper documentation of operations and participates in discussions and decisions during meetings.
  • Initiates and develops orders for parts, materials, and supplies to ensure constant flow of efficient work; ensures equipment availability, reliability, and capacity in support of water meters, vehicles, and related work.
  • Provides on sight inspection, evaluation, and troubleshooting; provides support and direction for Technicians and clerical staff, develops and creates work orders, and enforces compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Hears and resolves serious complaints or simple grievances from employees; refers serious grievances to higher level managers; effects disciplinary actions or recommends serious disciplinary actions to managers.
  • Finds and implements methods to improve water treatment plant operations and maintenance activities.
  • Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
