This role involves utilizing content expertise in diagnosing and repairing District automotive equipment, along with general supervision experience. The supervisor will be responsible for hiring/firing, reprimanding, supervising, directing task accomplishment, overseeing work, and coaching the Transportation/Maintenance Supervisor and mechanics in garage operations. Key responsibilities include making daily independent decisions on vehicle safety, planning and scheduling daily work, organizing workloads, prioritizing repairs for efficient bus availability, and analyzing budgets, fuel usage, parts inventory, and EPA checks. The position requires frequent interaction with subordinates, District staff, vendors, and law enforcement, and effective communication skills for meetings, correspondence, and report preparation. The supervisor will also plan and oversee inventory, establish and supervise automotive maintenance and preventive care systems, and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment with high safety standards. Maintaining current knowledge for compliance with laws, contracts, and policies is essential. The role requires a high level of energy due to travel, potential short-handedness, and a steady workload.
