Requirements

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing teams in transportation, logistics, or a related industry.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is required.
  • Thorough understanding of transportation operations and operational management, including planning, coordination, and process optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data, identify issues, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, customers, and business partners.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is required.
  • Ability to work on-site in Montreal, Quebec, in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency with transportation planning, operations management, and reporting software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in transportation, logistics, container services, or related industries; knowledge of the international shipping industry is considered an asset.
  • Postsecondary education in Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day transportation operations, including planning, coordinating, and monitoring container movements, shipments, and logistics activities to ensure efficient, on-time service delivery.
  • Lead and support the operations team by assigning work, managing workloads, and resolving issues related to scheduling, route optimization, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational data, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with company policies, the collective agreement, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Work closely with internal teams, business partners, and customers to provide operational updates, address concerns, and maintain a high level of service quality.
  • Foster a positive work environment and maintain productive labour relations within a unionized workplace.
