This position manages and supervises a union hourly workforce in Sunoco and includes the scheduling and delivery of gasoline and diesel products. This includes three Fleets. Responsibilities include local leadership of HES programs, supervision, transportation, trucking maintenance, and planning and expense budgeting. This position will provide overall direction of transportation activities to ensure the most efficient, safe and economical distribution of products consistent with customer service requirements and operating goals. The incumbent must be environmentally oriented and possess a good working knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations, which apply to the petroleum industry in storage, handling and transporting of petroleum products. Incumbent must also possess a hands-on working knowledge of terminal automation systems as existing terminal computer operations are vital to the overall distribution effort in coordinating customer deliveries from the central scheduling organization. Directly responsible for the daily Fleet operation including safety & security of subject facility, administering terminal labor agreements, utilization of terminal automation systems, ensuring quality and proper handling of all products, and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Manage and direct the workforce involved in the receipt, storage, and delivery of gasoline and distillate. Responsibilities include organizing, planning, controlling, and directing all activities to ensure the most efficient, safe, and economical manner of product distribution consistent with customer service requirements and operating goals. Develops and implements new or improved operating techniques for increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs within his/her area of responsibility. Supervision includes interviewing, selecting, hiring, firing, directing work, disciplining, and/or completing performance appraisals. Responsible to participate in resolution of labor relations issues at location. Oversees the maintenance of fleet vehicles to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operating conditions, monitors driver performance versus objectives and initiates corrective action as required. Requires communication with other departments such as Sales, Credit, and Central Scheduling. Requires an understanding of other operating requirements, i.e., engineering, capital projects, etc. that impact terminal operations. Has overall responsibility for emergency operation of assigned distribution terminals affected by work stoppages, supply disruptions, etc. The incumbent is an emergency responder and is required to wear a cell phone/pager and be available 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
