About The Position

The Supervisor, Transmission & eDrive Components Engineering role leads the engineering team responsible for design & release of electronic components and engineered subsytems utilized within in-house manufactured 10-speed RWD/ 8-speed FWD/ hybrid transmissions and electric drive units of all sizes. These components mostly consist of sensors, solenoids, wiring harnesses, electric oil pumps, and other engineered subassemblies such as shifting actuators and electronic park modules. The scope includes supporting current production programs (warranty and cost optimization projects) and future unit programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience with Design and Release processes
  • 6+ years of experience in FMA processes and documentation (DFMEA)
  • 6+ years of experience in Components and Subsystem design and processes
  • 6+ years of experience delivering balanced Quality/Cost/Weight/Function/Timing attributes for components and/or subsystems

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in product development or Advanced Engineering degree preferred
  • A clear communicator and highly motivated to exceed expectations in a constantly changing product landscape
  • Experience with electronic component & subsystem component design, best practices, and manufacturing methods
  • INCOSE CSEP certification or equivalent preferred
  • Versed in UML and SysML modeling languages preferred
  • Model Based System Engineering development utilizing MagicDraw/3DX toolkit preferred
  • Experienced in analyzing a descriptive model to assist in complex decision making preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess and assign transmission and electric drive unit electronic components & subsystems engineering workload to support new and current production programs.
  • Develop scope on assigned or initiated projects or tasks.
  • Provide leadership, objectives cascade, performance feedback, input and motivation on projects and performance. e.g. weekly section meetings, one-on-one meetings, support D&R engineers with management reviews & report outs
  • Review, analyze, and address any warranty issues attributed to responsible electronic components and subsystems, which include: sensors, solenoids, wiring harnesses, electric oil pumps, and other engineered subassemblies such as shifting actuators and electronic park modules.
  • Audit, coach and mentor engineers in all engineering Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) elements, design rules, and RQT elements in conformance with delivering new programs
  • Collaborate with Systems & tech specialist community to ensure robust design reviews and full compliance with FMA requirements at each program milestone.
  • Lead test hardware reviews and problem solving to ensure robust component and system level sign-off.
  • Collaborate and communicate with VEV teams to allocate & prioritize prototype operations and test resources to support program deliverables.
  • Interface with Ford internal powertrain manufacturing resident engineers, PTME & plant personnel to support and address quality, FTT, warranty issues on 10R, hybrid (HF), 8F, and electric drive unit components and subsystems.
  • Review and disposition of SREAs, Alerts, Concern/Notice.
  • Lead APQP & support STA to ensure robust Ph0-Ph3 PPAP process at suppliers and Ford plants.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and plant personnel to identify cost-saving ideas to deliver to objectives. Develop detailed workplans to ensure on-time implementation.
  • Develop strategic commodity plans for transmission and eDrive components and subsystems.
  • Train, mentor & develop personnel in the group, maintain technical competence and expand knowledge of technical developments.
  • Upgrade personal knowledge and skill levels through training.
  • Recruit, hire & build Engineering and/or technical team.
  • Approve D&R access to software, hardware & engineering tools
  • Review & approve travel requests and timecards (where applicable)
