About The Position

MITER Brands™ is one of North America's largest manufacturers of residential windows and patio doors, serving both new construction and replacement markets through leading brands such as Milgard and MI Windows and Doors. We are seeking a Supervisor Trainee for our Tacoma, Washington manufacturing facility. This 12–18-month leadership development program is designed to prepare high-potential candidates for future front-line supervisory roles within our window and door manufacturing operations. Participants will gain hands-on experience throughout the facility, including Production, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Distribution, Materials, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resources. The program provides exposure to all stages of the window manufacturing process, from component fabrication and glass processing to assembly, packaging, and shipping.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience; experience in window, door, glass, building products, or related manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and provide leadership support across day and swing shifts as business needs require.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and extended shifts, upon successful completion of the training program.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic production environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, quality, and process adherence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to changing business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of window and door manufacturing operations, processes, equipment, and product quality requirements.
  • Learn how to lead and motivate production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment through coaching, mentoring, training, and team member engagement.
  • Gain experience managing daily production activities while supporting safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to improve manufacturing performance and product quality.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S methodologies, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and continuous improvement tools to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules, inventory management, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build communication and leadership skills through presentations, project ownership, and interaction with plant leadership.
  • Develop the ability to analyze manufacturing metrics and drive improvements in key performance indicators, including Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Productivity, and Cost.
