About The Position

Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, this job performs a full spectrum of assignments related to the direction of the Tool Room through the effective supervision of Tool and Die Makers and Mold Preps. Coordinates all activities related to repairs and maintenance of injection molds, progressive dies and general assembly to support the Manufacturing departments, so that manufactured products meet quality, service, and cost standards and objectives. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: Accountable for the proper utilization of machinery and equipment within the Tool Room, assuring it is operated and maintained properly. Responsible for the efficiency of the assigned personnel, individually and as a group, and overall efficiency of the area/shifts, under his/her supervision. Responsible for the quality of the work produced by personnel under his/her supervision. Accountable of all Tool Room activities including daily maintenance and repairs of injection molds, progressive dies and general assembly tooling, and fabrication of machine guarding. Recommends hiring, disciplinary actions, suspensions, and termination of supervised personnel. Responsible for personnel safety. Ensure that personnel under his/her supervision have the education and training on the machinery and equipment used in the Tool Room. Responsible for generating purchase requisitions to support the construction, repair and maintenance of injection molds, progressive dies, assembly tools and guarding. Responsible for timely completion of Preventive Maintenance tasks applicable to area machinery/equipment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Tool & Die Maker Certification, and/or bachelor’s degree in engineering with five (5) to ten (10) years of supervisory experience in a machine shop related environment.
  • Strong exposure to Tool Room equipment like milling machines, lathes, grinders, band saws, drill presses, welders and EDM (wire, sinker, hole popper).
  • Ability and structured organizational skills to manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish written, and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of computerized systems applications (Windows) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP ERP system knowledge/exposure, highly desirable.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing techniques is also highly desirable.
