Directly supervise and coordinate the daily transloading operations of the Mexico Cross Border Services facility. Lead Heavy Equipment Operators and operational support personnel in the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of dock transloads, yard transloads, crane-assisted transloads, and trailer movement activities within the terminal. Ensure agent and customer requirements are met through effective workforce leadership, operational planning, equipment utilization, communication, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in freight handling, cross-dock, warehouse, terminal, transload, or transportation operations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of supervisory experience in freight handling, cross-dock, warehouse, terminal, transload, or transportation operations.
  • One year of experience with crane operations, flatbed freight, heavy-capacity forklifts, or specialized lifting equipment.
  • Certified forklift operator
  • Knowledge of legal capacities on loads and equipment
  • Knowledge of trailer types
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and lead effectively
  • Ability to ensure cross-dock/yard operate in an organized and efficient manager

Responsibilities

  • Promote Landstar's Safety First culture through regular safety discussions, employee awareness, and consistent enforcement of established procedures.
  • Supervise daily dock, yard, crane, and trailer movement operations.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance discussions to provide coaching, recognize accomplishments, reinforce accountability, support employee development, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Plan and assign daily work activities based on customer commitments, operational priorities, staffing levels, and available resources.
  • Ensure freight is handled safely, accurately, and in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures.
  • Oversee the operation of forklifts, heavy-capacity material handling equipment, cranes, specialized lifting attachments, and yard tractors.
  • Review shipment documentation, handling requirements, and operational instructions before work begins.
  • Serve as the primary operations contact for agents, customers, drivers, and internal departments by providing load status updates, operational guidance, and resolution of service-related issues.
  • Resolve service disruptions, cargo discrepancies, operational concerns, and safety related issues.
  • Ensure required photographs, seal information, equipment inspections, and operational records are completed and maintained.
  • Support compliance with company policies, cargo security requirements, and established operating procedures.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair activities to maintain operational readiness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment throughout all operating areas.
  • Support growth initiatives by evaluating operational capacity and resource requirements needed to meet customer demand.
  • Work collaboratively with facility leadership, operations personnel, security, maintenance providers, agents, and customers to support operational goals.
  • Support emergency relief efforts, including night, weekend, holiday, and off hour operational coverage as required.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings, safety meetings, and operational training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
