About The Position

The Technical Services Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the fabrication and welding departments to ensure products are manufactured safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position oversees production activities, coordinates workflow, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that maximize productivity, efficiency, and equipment reliability. The Technical Services Supervisor provides technical leadership by supporting laser cutting and press brake programming, troubleshooting manufacturing and equipment issues, and ensuring preventive maintenance (PM) activities are completed on schedule to minimize downtime. Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Product Management, this role supports engineering changes, new product launches, prototype builds, and process improvements while promoting Lean Manufacturing principles. Through strong leadership, employee development, process optimization, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence, the Technical Services Supervisor plays a key role in achieving business objectives, improving operational performance, and delivering high-quality products to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the daily operations of the fabrication and welding departments to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity goals.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign personnel to meet production requirements while maximizing efficiency and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitor production performance and key performance indicators (KPIs), driving accountability and timely resolution of production issues.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees while fostering teamwork, employee engagement, and compliance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Serve as the technical resource for fabrication equipment, manufacturing processes, and products by troubleshooting production issues and supporting Engineering, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, Product Management, and Maintenance.
  • Assist with laser cutting and press brake programming as needed to support production schedules and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting guides, and product manuals.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and lower operating costs.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive maintenance initiatives to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Analyze production metrics and implement process improvements that enhance quality, productivity, and overall operational performance.
  • Train, mentor, and cross-train employees on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, standardized work, and technical product knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Product Management to implement engineering changes, support new product launches, validate processes, resolve manufacturing issues, and assist with prototype builds.
  • Provide technical support for customer inquiries, product troubleshooting, warranty concerns, and field service activities, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, PPE requirements, incident investigations, housekeeping standards, and 5S practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
