About The Position

McDonald’s is actively seeking a Supervisor, Global Tax Planning, to support complex global tax planning and restructuring initiatives aligned with the company’s global business operation and priorities. This role will work closely with external advisors and cross-functional partners of the business to evaluate international tax considerations, develop planning alternatives, and support leadership with informed business decision-making. This person will play a key role in supporting international tax planning efforts and workstreams related to tax controversy management, transfer pricing, and global tax operations. The position offers broad exposure to McDonald’s global footprint and provides the opportunity to build technical expertise, critical decision-making skills, business acumen through involvement in key tax planning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution
  • 2 - 4 years of relevant tax planning and international tax experience in either a public accounting or corporate setting.
  • Experience with domestic and international tax laws, rules and regulations, and various indirect tax laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage constantly shifting priorities with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with cross functional teams at large companies and with tax advisors.
  • Strong business and financial acumen and strong communication and writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification, Master’s Degree in Taxation, or J.D. / LL.M. (taxation) is preferred.
  • Experience with Excel, Alteryx, Data Visualization Tools (e.g., Microsoft PowerBI/Tableau) and other Automation tools is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support significant global tax planning and restructuring initiatives, working closely with senior Global Tax Planning team members and external advisors to evaluate tax consequences and practical implementation considerations.
  • Analyze tax impacts of global cash repatriation and funding strategies, collaborating with Corporate Treasury and local market finance and tax teams to assess alternatives and support optimization of global cash flows in line with business objectives.
  • Work closely with local market tax and finance teams to identify and analyze emerging tax issues, and clearly communicate impacts and potential resolutions to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical analyses and conclusions related to international tax planning matters, including support for uncertain tax positions and development of clear, concise summaries of key considerations, risks, and attributes to support leadership decision-making.
  • Conduct tax research and monitor changes in U.S. and non-U.S. tax laws and regulations, assessing potential impacts on McDonald’s global tax profile and ongoing planning initiatives, and developing scenario analyses for management consideration.
  • Assist with tax controversy and audit matters by supporting technical analyses, coordinating information with internal teams and external advisors, and developing issue resolution strategies under the guidance of senior tax leaders.
