About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, Surveillance Operations (Shift), the Supervisor, Surveillance Operations is responsible for overseeing daily surveillance activities to ensure effective monitoring and reporting across all properties. This role collaborates with internal departments to support investigations and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, accounting, law, psychology or related field required.
  • Minimum three (3) years casino, surveillance experience or related field required.
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), commercial database systems, and internet research skills.
  • Must possess excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass an internal certification on all table games offered at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino within the first six (6) months is required.
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required.
  • Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year of management or leadership experience preferred.
  • Certified Surveillance Professionals (CSP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the workflow and task delegation of Operations staff to ensure efficiency and alignment with the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC) and department objectives. Reviews subordinate work and surveillance video for accuracy and completeness.
  • Promotes and upholds a high standard of performance across the team, ensuring operational expectations are consistently met. Applies sound judgment to address internal concerns, facilitating timely and effective resolution in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with Casino team members and leadership to obtain relevant incident details for the investigation within the gaming facility, requested reviews, injury or illness claims/reports, and safety risks.
  • Analyzes recorded and live surveillance video of property-wide activities to detect any suspicious activity, discrepancies of gaming activity including advantage play, cheating at play, or suspicious financial transactions, which may pose a risk to team members, vendors, guests, Tribal residents or Casino operations. Develops and implements key strategies, best practices, and tactics to ensure thorough monitoring and observation of Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation (YSMN) owned and operated properties.
  • Maintains expertise and working aptitude in all games offered by Yaamava’ Resort & Casino (YRC) and applies this understanding to support departmental readiness and operational integrity. Evaluates emerging surveillance and investigative technologies, cheats and scams, provides strategic recommendations to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness within surveillance operations.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission internal controls, Casino policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and tribal regulations governing the YSMN and YRC operations. Serves as a subject matter expert in gaming activities. Oversees and ensures the integrity of video evidence, including maintaining chain of custody.
  • Leads the administration of training programs for Surveillance personnel, delivering presentations as well as in-house and remedial instruction aligned with departmental standards. Facilitates continuous development by sharing industry knowledge, emerging trends, and best practices to enhance individual performance and strengthen overall team capabilities. Provides mentorship and training to Surveillance personnel.
  • Leads the development and execution of strategies, best practices, and methodologies to ensure comprehensive oversight and enforcement of regulations governing various YSMN owned and operated properties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
