This is a .8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period) 8-hour day shift position with no weekends. The home site is River Falls Hospital, with responsibilities supporting both River Falls Hospital and United Hospital - Hastings Regina Campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health related field
  • 2+ years operating room experience
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and oversight to Surgical Technologists and other clinical support staff in an Operating Room setting.
  • Assists Patient Care Manager in day-to-day coordination of the unit, including staff education, performance management, scheduling and communication; as well as quality improvement and other management activities as delegated.
  • Supports day-to-day operations.
  • Works with Charge Nurse to support staff work activities.
  • Assures optimal equipment function, including scheduling repairs and routine maintenance as needed.
  • Analyses workplace for hazard and safety concerns, takes action as needed.
  • Assists in the identification and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, facilitating the integration of quality improvement activities into practice.
  • Monitors staffing levels and develops staffing model recommendations.
  • Acts as role model and mentor to Surgical Technologists and other clinical support staff.
  • Collaborates with preceptors to coordinate orientation plan and schedule for each new employee.
  • Monitors progress of new employees, and provides constructive feedback and support.
  • Assists in identifying staff learning and development needs, including unit competency plan.
  • Supervises and serves as a resource to staff.
  • Conducts performance reviews and manages ongoing performance.
  • Provides feedback to staff as appropriate, using coaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring of new staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
