About The Position

Under general supervision, organizes, monitors, and supervises street and storm drain maintenance operations within the Public Works Department. The Streets Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of employees engaged in the repair and maintenance of the City streets and drainage system. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

Requirements

  • Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of related work experience to perform such job.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
  • Applicant must have current valid Class "C" Driver's License and be insurable.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
  • Principles and practices of street and storm drain maintenance.
  • Equipment, tools, and materials used in public works activities and services.
  • Proficient oral, interpersonal and written communication.

  • Read and interprets maps, plans, sketches, schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
  • Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
  • Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
  • Oversees the daily operation of the Street and Drainage work activities.
  • Supervises street maintenance, storm drainage, asphalt repair, concrete repair, road construction and complaint repairs.
  • Organizes and plans work schedules and delegates assignments to crews. As well as train workers in equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Oversees the installation of concrete and asphalt material that is incidental to repair and/or maintenance of storm drainage systems.
  • Coordinates finding with City Engineer as required solving problems of inadequate drainage structure or systems.
  • Ensures that all trucks and equipment are in proper operating conditions and orders repairs as necessary.
  • Responsible for observing and enforcing all safety regulations that apply to Division; takes disciplinary action when safety procedures are violated.
  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment; order supplies and tools as necessary.
  • Prepare documents for equipment procurement.
