Supervisor - Sterile Supply - New Tower
About The Position
The Supervisor, Central Sterile Supply is responsible for supervising departmental operations, departmental staff, instrument processing, case carts, preference card processes, decontamination, sterilization, case cart processing, disposable supply inventory for case carts and selected reusable equipment. Equipment processed includes surgical instrumentation, utensils and other sterile products for patient care areas. Case cart production and maintenance is coordinated with Operating Room and obstetrical personnel for Labor and delivery, UH, James, and Ross Operating Rooms. The Supervisor, Central Sterile Supply is also responsible for ensuring that sterile procedure trays, instruments, supplies and equipment are available for distribution to patient care areas. The Supervisor, Central Sterile Supply monitors compliance with sterilization policies and procedures and record keeping.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in health care or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in instrument processing or surgical technology
- Sterilization experience required, preferably in Perioperative services
- HSPA or CBSPD certification (or to be obtained within 6 months of employment)
- Two year college degree or equivalent education and experience
- Previous experience in instrument processing and sterilization experience in perioperative services
- Experience teaching or precepting in central sterile supply
- Demonstrate expertise in staff education
- Demonstrate expertise in sterile processing technician delivery
- Demonstrate expertise in evidence-based practice
- Collaborates with other disciplines in professional development activities
