About The Position

Behind every safe procedure is a team ensuring that each instrument, device, endoscope, and supply is properly processed, available, and ready when needed. Jefferson Healthcare is seeking an experienced and collaborative Sterile Processing Supervisor to provide day-to-day leadership for Sterile Processing operations, endoscopy reprocessing, and assigned surgical supply activities. This is a working leadership role for someone who understands the technical demands of sterile processing and also knows how to coach people, improve systems, maintain compliance, and build a strong department culture. You will work closely with Surgical Services leadership, physicians, procedural teams, clinics, Endoscopy, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, Facilities, and Biomedical Engineering to help ensure safe, efficient, and dependable patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician, CRCST, certification
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
  • At least three years of progressively responsible Sterile Processing experience
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience supervising staff, conducting competency assessments, providing employee education, and managing performance
  • Working knowledge of AAMI standards, AORN guidelines, SGNA standards, infection prevention principles, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer Instructions for Use
  • Experience with inventory control, supply chain coordination, purchasing processes, and surgical supply operations
  • Experience developing and implementing quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Leading daily Sterile Processing operations, staffing assignments, workflow priorities, and instrument processing schedules
  • Supervising and participating in decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of instruments and medical devices
  • Overseeing flexible endoscope cleaning, disinfection, inspection, testing, storage, maintenance, and documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with manufacturer Instructions for Use, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring sterilization quality assurance activities, including biological and chemical monitoring
  • Maintaining compliance with AAMI standards, AORN guidelines, SGNA standards, DNV requirements, CMS Conditions of Participation, and Washington State regulations
  • Managing instrument and surgical supply inventory, PAR levels, purchasing coordination, product rotation, backorders, substitutions, and vendor communication
  • Coordinating instrument repair, maintenance, replacement, and procurement
  • Developing orientation, competency, education, and professional development programs
  • Coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and developing Sterile Processing employees
  • Conducting competency assessments, performance evaluations, and corrective action when appropriate
  • Supporting department budgets, resource management, and responsible financial stewardship
  • Investigating operational concerns and implementing solutions that improve safety, compliance, efficiency, and service
  • Collaborating across Surgical Services, Endoscopy, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, clinics, Facilities, and Biomedical Engineering
  • Maintaining accurate sterilization, quality, competency, inventory, and regulatory records
  • Performing Sterile Processing Technician duties when needed to support the department
