The Sterile Processing Supervisor at St. Charles Health System is responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating, controlling, and administering the Sterile Processing Program. This role involves overseeing and performing cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of equipment and instruments used within the Hospital. The supervisor will also work in the sterile core areas within the Operating Room and directly manage caregivers in Sterile Processing. The position requires providing technical knowledge, supervising caregivers, performing daily audits on legal documentation, and managing caregiver performance, including reviews and development plans. The role also involves performing competency checks, coaching, and coordinating corrective actions in consultation with the manager and HR. The supervisor assists with patient care unit operations, implements clinical practice changes, supports education initiatives, and participates in interviewing and hiring. Maintaining clinical expertise, managing caregiver schedules to ensure core staffing, and possessing "super user knowledge" of the instrument tracking system are key responsibilities. The supervisor is expected to hire, direct, coach, and monitor direct reports to build a high-performance team, ensuring compliance with safety requirements and organizational directives. They will also oversee team delivery of customer service, collaborate on process improvements using Value Improvement Practice concepts, and champion continuous improvement. The role demands upholding the organization's vision, mission, and values, maintaining a safe environment, and conducting all activities with professionalism and confidentiality, complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
