About The Position

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is seeking a results-driven, innovative, and experienced healthcare leader to supervise security operations and personnel on an assigned off-shift. This role involves preparing daily work assignments, maintaining attendance records for subordinate security staff, and performing other assigned duties. The supervisor monitors activities to ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies, and implements audit recommendations as directed. The position also ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years progressively more responsible experience as a security officer II in a DMC security department or equivalent experience as a Certified Police Officer.
  • Successful completion of Public Act 330 certification program or completion of a certified MCOLES academy.
  • Concealed weapons permit (for guns) required.
  • Must be eligible and remain eligible for coverage as a driver of hospital vehicles by the hospital's insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the security operations and personnel at assigned facilities on an off-shift.
  • Selects, trains, evaluates and when necessary, recommends the discipline and/or discharge of subordinate staff.
  • Makes daily work assignments for employees on designated shift; maintains daily attendance records; performs any additional duties as assigned.
  • Reviews all security reports and other appropriate departmental correspondence; ensures that proper information is disseminated to appropriate subordinate staff.
  • Investigates safety, security and parking problems.
  • Responds to fire alarms and assures initiation of appropriate fire control procedures when fire marshall is not available.
  • May personally handle details similar to those assigned to security officers.
  • Promotes the value of the DMC by demonstrating behaviors supportive of a commitment to quality, community welfare, respect and involvement, teamwork, open and effective communication, innovation, education and efficient and effective resource use.
  • Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies.
  • Implements external and internal audit recommendations as directed.
  • Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
