About The Position

Dartmouth Health is seeking a full-time Supervisor in Respiratory Care to work in a fast-paced critical care environment. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to utilize a multitude of respiratory driven protocols. The position is located at an academic medical center in a rural environment, providing access to incredible facilities, academic rigor, and a commitment to compassionate care. This is a growing department where respiratory therapists can thrive. Qualified candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and hold ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications at the time of hire.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in NH.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) upon hire.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) upon hire.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) upon hire.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that quality of care provided by staff meets standards by direct observation and individual instruction.
  • Provides direct feedback to staff, including development of improvement plans.
  • Supervises the daily operations of the department and personnel.
  • Assigns and oversees work assignments.
  • Coordinates and provides instruction of staff, students, nurse, and medical residents in respiratory care theory and practice.
  • Develops in-service programs in conjunction with the administrative director.
  • Participates in leadership meetings with the administrative and medical directors.
  • Leads small group meetings and inter-shift report.
  • Assists in conflict resolution between staff and disciplines.
  • Acts as a consultant for staff RCPs, RNs, and MDs regarding patient assessment and care plan development.
  • Participates in the development of post hospitalization discharge planning for patients with high-level respiratory care needs.
  • Utilizes competency in all specific areas of practice including adults, pediatrics, and neonatal respiratory care.
  • Evaluates and discusses new products and equipment with staff and sales representatives.
  • Arranges for equipment in-services.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
