About The Position

This position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for quality and food safety programs across assigned facilities, third-party contracted origins, and business segments. The position leads integration and standardization efforts, quality systems data governance, audit readiness, regulatory support, customer complaint and CAPA activities, and the development of Quality Specialists. The role partners with Operations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial, and other stakeholders to promote consistent execution and continual improvement of quality and food safety programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in food, feed, grain, ingredient, or agricultural quality assurance, food safety, supplier quality, or regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading personnel, projects, or cross-functional quality initiatives across multiple locations
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations, FSMA, FSVP, preventive controls, and quality or food safety management systems
  • Experience supporting or leading internal, external, and third-party audits
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA management, document control, and data governance
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, prioritization, and project management skills
  • Ability to travel to assigned sites and third-party locations based on business needs

  • PCQI and/or FSVP Qualified Individual training or designation.
  • Experience with TraceGains or a comparable supplier and quality information management platform
  • Familiarity with GFSI-aligned certification schemes such as SQF or FSSC 22000
  • Experience integrating quality systems following acquisitions or organizational changes
  • Experience in grain, feed, food ingredient, or agricultural supply chain operations

Responsibilities

  • Lead consolidation and harmonization of quality and food safety processes and documentation resulting from recent acquisitions and system integrations
  • Drive alignment of site and supplier documentation with corporate requirements, applicable regulations, and customer expectations
  • Support standardized procedures and ways of working in Benchmark in partnership with EHS and operational stakeholders
  • Provide quality and food safety (QFS) leadership and support for Webb City, Joplin, Monroe, Goldsboro, Shelby, and corporate locations
  • Serve as a primary quality resource for site leadership regarding regulatory, customer, certification, and corporate program requirements
  • Support implementation and consistent execution of food safety plans, prerequisite programs, specifications, document control, training, and verification activities
  • Escalate significant QFS risks and coordinate cross-functional resolution
  • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and follow up on internal, customer, and third-party audits and assessments
  • Support audit readiness, evidence collection, response development, and timely closure of findings
  • Participate in the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) team, including gap analysis, document review, and alignment with FDA requirements
  • Monitor changes in assigned regulatory, certification, and customer requirements and support updates to affected programs and documentation
  • Support investigation, resolution, and response of customer complaints, nonconformances, and QFS concerns
  • Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (RCAs/CAPAs)
  • Track assigned actions, verify implementation and effectiveness, and support timely closure
  • Analyze recurring issues and recommend preventive or systemic improvements
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance management, and professional development for site Quality Specialists
  • Establish priorities, assign work, balance resources, and monitor progress across sites, systems, audits, and quality initiatives
  • Develop team capabilities in quality systems, site documentation, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, complaint investigation, and CAPA execution
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, consistent communication, and a culture of food safety and continuous improvement
  • Provide backup support for the Corporate Quality Manager and maintain continuity of key quality activities during absences
  • Provide backup and cross-functional support for Quality Specialists as business needs require
  • Partner with Operations, EHS, Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and implement sustainable improvements
  • Lead or participate in projects that improve compliance, efficiency, data integrity, and consistency across the organization
  • Communicate priorities, risks, progress, and resource needs to the Corporate Quality Manager and affected stakeholders
